About

Marta is a freelance fashion illustrator based in London. She is also a bridal illustrator as she enjoys designing wedding dresses and making the brides-to-be happy with the details.

Since childhood Marta has been fascinated by travel stories that her aunt and uncle would tell her after their long trips around the world. She spent long hours in chatting and looking at unusual gift souvenirs. Hence she found herself deeply in love with foreign cultures and languages, a university study of languages being the natural consequence.  Pursuing a career as a MFL teacher Marta has never put her artistic ability aside and she has often combined her passion for illustrating and designing with the projects she has devised for her students.

In her free time Marta has experimented with different media and surfaces such as wood and ceramic, knitted and sewn and attended a jewelry workshop before finding her niche, fashion illustration. From the positive feedback from friends and people who commissioned her work Marta has found herself wanting to begin her own business combining her love for fashion and drawing.  And the regret of not having followed a different path and studied fashion design has been slightly vanishing day by day. Her blog Drawing Fashion Illustrations is her window in the virtual world where she can post her fashion illustrations, write about fashion and teach Italian vocabulary!

Her inspiration comes from nature like the lake area where she grew up in the north of Italy, travels and everyday life.  She works predominantly with graphite, watercolours and colour pencils without making use of any digital technique.

I wish I could illustrate like Ennio Morricone composes his music
